Instagram

In this essay i’ll be explaining my views on instagram and how it has significantly made an impact on the world we live in today, reasons for this being

Do you have an iphone? I’m sure you do and I’m pretty sure that you have installed the instagram app along with its photo app on your phone. It is said that instagram is one of the up and coming apps that allows its users to download a free app and share photos across the social network. (include website) From my own knowledge it easy really straight forward to use, simply capture and image or a pre-existing image and apply one of the fifteen filters which is provided to enhance your image. Sharing photos and videos on other social networks such as Facebook (Which bought instagram) and twitter in my opinion instagram has made a significant impact on the world we live in today. Not only because of the amazing app but I strongly believe instgram has changed the way industries communicate, thirdly instagram has changed the way we take pictures.

2. We Can All Be Professional Photographers

Instagram gives users all over the world the chance to turn their amateur image into something beautiful. The wide range of filters you can choose from really captures the moment and makes it memorable. Whilst we aren’t all actually pro photographers (although we wish we were) – Instagram gives that perceived image

3. It’s Changed The Way Industries Communicate

Any companies that provide ‘pretty’ consumer goods tend to be really successful on Instagram. For example, fashion retailers, bakers, car dealers, jewellers and beauty salons all usually get a big response when they post content onto their page. For some industries, Instagram has become an absolute essential part of their marketing mix and without it they would be (potentially) DOOMED

4. Rise of the Selfie

It’s no secret that Instagram has made the word selfie a world wide phenomenon , it was even awarded ‘Word Of The Year 2013′ by Oxford Dictionaries. In case you were still unaware, a selfie is – “A photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically with a smart phone or webcam and uploaded to a social media website”. There are currently an amazing 81 million photos on Instagram that have the #selfie included on them, wowzers!

Users can share their photos with family and friends right on the Instagram network itself or as of recently, with other powerful services such as Facebook and Twitter. The possibilities are really endless when using this app…and did I mention it’s free?? This app has most certainly sparked an interest in photography for me. I have always been interested in capturing life’s “Kodak moments” but Instagram has allowed me to take pictures of ordinary things such as flowers, the sunset, historical buildings; the world really is my  playground. As such, I am of the opinion that Instagram has not changed the world of photography per say. It has definitely had a significant impact on society and as you read on you will find out all the ways that this app can be used and how it has inspired so many!
